It seems to be popular today to declare that God is angry. The MSM and bloggers enjoyed the Pat Roberston comments concerning God being irritated over Sharon giving some of the land away. Now ‘leave the buses in the garage’ Nagin hops on board. Atlas Shrugs says that Nagin sounds much like Robertson.

La Shawn Barber questions if anyone will rain down on Nagin for his comments like they did for Robertson. There is one difference which will make Nagin’s comments spin out differently. Robertson’s comments were directed to an individual and therefore very personal. Who did Nagin target with his God’s wrath statement?

“Surely, God is mad at America,” Nagin said Monday during festivities to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. “Surely he doesn’t approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. But surely he is upset at black America also. We’re not taking care of ourselves. We’re not taking care of our women. And we’re not taking care of our children.”

While California Conservative is glad Nagin didn’t call for white extermination, the comment makes dig into Nagin’s comments further. If God is vengeful because of Iraq and is in complete control then why didn’t God target Washington if Iraq is the issue?

Nagin deflects the real issue of why the most ‘chocolate’ section was most devastated. The initial complaint was that the government didn’t protect them from a storm. But how can the government protect a people from the wrath of God? But Nagin deflects the people’s minds to Bush Bashing and then slips in the part that most caught my eye.

“But surely he is upset at black America also. We’re not taking care of ourselves. We’re not taking care of our women. And we’re not taking care of our children.”

What the media hasn’t focused in on is that Nagin blames his own people for not taking care of business. Outside the Beltway comments on the confusing logic that God destroys the black part of the city so that it stays a black city.

Perhaps Nagin feels obligated to accuse the white administration so that his base will listen to him. In the video on Political Teen he sounds more like a preacher who is preachin’ to the choir than the video he gave to explain the chocolate comment. Nice try on recovery I’d say.

In the meantime he talks about rebuilding but the ambitious rebuilding plan as reported by the Los Angeles Times is the one he distanced himself from.

In the meantime Nagin has the task of helping promote the rebuilding of the New Wonka Factory and hope it can return to making money so he and other city workers can be paid. Just surprises me that despite the big money coming from Washington that it isn’t wise to bite the hand that feeds them. It might also show the people how to be grateful for the contributions of millions of other Americans, including the President.
