Knight Rider Matt Stearns wrote an article called “Evangelical Christians express little sympathy for Muslims’ outrage.” It is always interesting reading when MSM attempt to understand Christians and fascinating when comparing them to Muslims.

Only a cursory understanding of what it means to be a Christian would be left wondering why Muslims haven’t found more of an ally in the ‘cartoon’ row which depicted the Muslim religion and prophet in a manner which sparked violent rage across the world. They only see that Christians have been mocked and their belief in Jesus Christ denigrated. The response has be dramatically different than the Muslim violence seen recently.

No Christian leader ever espoused violence to retaliate against “Piss Christ,” the controversial 1989 artwork - a photograph of a crucifix submerged in urine - by Andres Serrano, even though that riled many Christians, noted Gary Bauer, president of American Values and a longtime leader among religious conservatives.

Christians do understand what it is to be upset to be misrepresented and even made fun of. Yet Gary Bauer of the American Values stated it well in the article.

Bauer said. “But … how can (the cartoons) engender a greater emotional reaction than the daily bombings and attacks by groups claiming to do them in the name of Allah? “It doesn’t look like a call for respect,” Bauer concluded of the Muslims’ protests. “It looks like a call for submission.”

The radical Muslims are not looking for plurality but a homogeneous culture that sees and views the world as they do. Some would level the same charge against Christians. However, the changes Christians make are through the same system every group has, in the arena of ideas. The main difference of approach the radical Muslims take is that they have brought into the arena of ideas a sword.
