Too Busy To be Bothered by Presidential Funeral

The consummate compassionate liberal keeping a corruption free schedule by going on a junket instead of a funeral for President Ford.

Incoming Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senators Dick Durbin, Kent Conrad, Judd Gregg, Robert Bennett, and Ken Salazar are going on a junket to South America and just can’t reschedule to attend former President Ford’s state funeral on Friday.

Their plan?

The highlight of the trip is said to be separate meetings with the presidents of the three nations, with the last one scheduled in Peru on Tuesday morning.

“They would be difficult to cancel,” Reid spokesman Jim Manley said via mobile phone as the congressional delegation took off in a U.S. military plane.

The senators are also scheduled to be in Cuzco, Peru, on Sunday, which would give them an opportunity to view the nearby Inca ruins and anything else in advance of New Year’s Eve.

What a classless act, and Reid, Durbin, Kent Conrad, Judd Gregg, Robert Bennett, and Ken Salazar should be ashamed of themselves. If Harry Reid can’t figure out that his new position as Majority Leader carries some extra responsibilities, then perhaps the Democrats need to find someone who does understand it.

As leader of the party he should be there. All that talk of working together and reconciliation… actions speaking loudly. Most world leaders would understand such a schedule change. Apparently Reid doesn’t know that. Or doesn’t give a hoot.

    Maybe he is going down there to pull off a shady land deal like he did in Vegas.
